During the early 1900's combined production of the three historical mines was estimated at over 150 million pounds of copper (Cu) averaging a grade of +2.0% Cu using antiquated underground mining and smelting technology.
Today, the geology of MVCP indicates numerous skarns, adits, mine shafts, and tunnels that have not been reviewed since 1929. Skarns in the Yerington Corridor have long been known to contain various ore minerals including copper, and more recently silver and gold. The skarn formations on MVCP are associated with porphyry dike copper mineralization, including altered intrusive dikes. There is considerable evidence that black copper oxides (yielding higher copper values) are common on the property.
On May 27, 2007, a public press release was issued announcing that one of the patented lode claims, Copper Hill Mine, had received analytical results of 9 channel samples and 3 grab samples, indicating an average copper grade weighted to the horizontal width is 5.3% Cu over 2.77 feet and/or the average copper grade is 5.46% Cu weighted to the sample weights. In addition to the copper potential on MVCP, the presence of silver at 223 ppm from grab sample assaying on its Copper Hill Mine, may indicate additional significant minerals.
In June 2011, a NI 43•101 Technical Report on the MVCP p
repared by Steven R. Davis on the MVCP was published that included defining potential resources and the results of surface samples over a 6,000' zone on patented lands that indicated an average of 6.9% copper plus gold and silver credits.
The Mason Valley Copper Properties sits in the nucleus within a 10•kilometer radius of properties held by other publicly traded exploration companies in the Yerington District, representing a resource >22 billion pounds of copper, thus far identified.
Mason Valley Copper Properties is unique within the Yerington Mining District in that it contains several major, historic mines that are for the first time, directly owned by a single, private Company without any third party leaseholds.
Exploration activity within the area continues aggressively by companies such as Nevada Copper Corp. (TSE: NCU)
www.nevadacopper.com, Entrée Gold Inc. (TSE: ETG)
www.entreegold.com, and Quaterra Resources Inc. (TSEV: QTA)
www.quaterra.com. Nevada Copper recently completed a Definitive Feasibility Study on its Pumpkin Hollow project and broke ground on February 18, 2012 with anticipation of commencing production in 2015. Entr
ée Gold and Quaterra continue to pursue advanced drilling programs to identify new and continuing zones of mineralization including the Ann Mason, Blue Hills, Blackjack, Roulette, and MacArthur properties.
